Alaskan Highway. Beaver Creek Y.T to Destruction Bay. Y.T. We were southbound and stopped for fuel in Beaver Creek a bit after eight PM. I commented to the women working the counter, as I paid for my gas. "The road was a bit rougher than last time we came through, eh?" She asked which direction we were heading? I said south. She smiled and said that the last stretch was nothing, "From here to Kluane lake is some of the worst conditions we have ever had on the road". Wow, she was spot on. It took six hours to cover the next 120 miles. Sometimes anything above a crawl was too fast. Frost heaves, holes and lots of long, deep troughs that ran with the direction of travel, and were often two-three feet wide, a few hundred long, and too deep to even entertain getting close to. It was actually a lot of work, and for most of the time some poor guy on a Harley was following and working his butt off to keep the bike upright. We pulled into a turnout at 2am and collapsed in a deep sleep. The biker drove off into the shoulder behind us, and fell asleep in the grass. Absent some post end of the world scenario, I doubt I'll ever see anything worse that that while driving on a "highway" LOL
