I actually stay near there in the winter and it's a nice park and it's for sure a Tourist location. I have stayed there when it was a Western Horizons park also.

I also went to their web site and there is NOTHING mentioned about rates.

Try VA Beach KOA. lots of $100.00 prices.
I chose VA beach because it is the closest tourist area to me with a KOA.
Just to be sure I checked Myrtle beach KOA they also had plenty of $100.00 sites.
maybe it's an east coast thing......
For the record prices were available via the web site no phone call required.

Not just an East coast thing. The $65 rate mentioned was because it's a dump compared to the one below, which is closer to $140.

KOA Rodanthe NC, $135.00 per night after Labor day (off season) and 3 night minimum. Drops to $99 come October. Not an oceanfront site.




No problem finding the rate the OP mentioned, takes seconds to get it.





How about $127.50 per night, two night minimum, along a river in PA?
Only gravel, no concrete, and the luxury of the CSX mainline directly across the river less than 100 yds away. About every 20 minutes a 200 car freight goes by, sometimes 2 at a time. Very peaceful. Not anywhere even close to a resort area, and pretty dumpy.






Looked up Joshua Tree out of curiosity, $65 spounds about right for what amounts to a paved parking lot.

It's clearly in tech issues because people need to figure out how to use their smart phone to check campsite prices before they arrive. :)

Think cost per site is based on a number of realities, particularly the location of the CG. EVERYTHING costs more in the Northeast, and there is far less open land there than probably anywhere else in the country. Land values are very high, and more and more campgrounds are being sold and turned into housing developments. Supply and Demand, as so many others have said, is the reality. The more people want something, the more it costs to get it. NJ has a short supply of campsites throughout the state, and they are in high demand. Property taxes are outrageous, and utilities are brutally expensive. Campground owners charge what the market will bear to meet costs and get at least some profit. Almost NEVER an available campsite in the summer, particularly on weekends. As we travel more, off the East Coast, we do find more campgrounds with lower costs per site - but it is seldom we find one for less than $40/night with FHU. State parks are different, but it is uncommon (except in Florida) to find one with more than a limited # of sewered sites, and WIFI at the site is very rare indeed. Bottom line, RVing is expensive! But we wouldn't give it up for anything!

Do you get upset if an item has no price tag in a supermarket? Or would you pull into an unknown gas station with no signage?

Frankly I have actually learned very little from these arguments. I laugh when I see the average price of a hamburger is "X" in New Orleans and how much a crummy hot dog costs at Fenway Park.

Disneyland costs beyond my reach and so do National Parks

I would tend to research alternatives than ***** about something. It's when crooks manipulate prices for must-haves that get me riled up.
