2017 Solar Eclipse

I am thinking of heading down from Massachusetts for the August 21st solar eclipse. My son, age 13, is very interested in going to see this. I have seen a few websites with the course of the eclipse and see it goes though SC and tip of western NC. I have also read that Franklin, NC or Columbia, SC area might be good spots. Anyone have any suggestions or recommendations. Campgrounds or other thoughts

    I don't know how it is in your part of the country, but everything in Idaho seems to already be booked. We are planning on boondocking in the area we planned to go, because there is a lot of dispersed camping in our area. I know of some hotels in the "shadow path" that were taking reservations in 2005. Also heard one Japanese gentleman completely booked one of the hotels. So this is somewhat crazy! Good luck!
