2019 RV'ing Plans have changed

A few months back (sept I think) I posted we had made reservations at Glacier NP and Yellowstone NP. 1st time for Glacier, 2nd time for Yellowstone, in a 2.5 week adventure.

Unfortunately, wife could not get all the time off at once, so the new plan is:

1 week in June, we will be camped at US SPace and Rocket Center RV Park in Huntsville, AL while my girls attend Space Camp (was going to do in 2020, it got moved up!)

1.5 weeks in July at Rocky Mtn NP then Colorado Springs for 2 nites on the way home (to see a friend...we've spent time in CS before)

Anyway, hopefully we'll get to goto Glacier in '20. Just glad we will be in the mountains this year even if not in Glacier!

Hope it's in better shape than it was in 2014. I thought it was a dump.
  • Well, we will see. Never been there. Pics on google maps tell me it looks more like a state park than a "cramped" RV park. Pics online at least make it look fine.

While the kids are in Space Camp, wife and I have short list of places to go see / things to do. So may not be in the park all that much anyway.

Look at getting into the Real Mountains - with less people and more Play - Buena Vista - Collegiates - Leadville - Independence Pass - Browns Canyon - Turquoise Lake - Camp Hale - Red Cliff - Arkansas River.................................

IMHO, you will enjoy More - Do More - See more - Just have More FUN.

When you have the exact dates for those two nights in Colorado Springs, it would be worth a try to get a site in Cheyenne Mountain State Park. It is a very popular park and by far the best for Colorado Springs, but it is sometimes possible to get 2 or 3 nights during the week. But you better do this immediately. Believe me it will be worth the try if you can get a site.
  • YES -- we have stayed at Cheyenne Mtn SP -- LOVED IT -- and unfortunately it's booked during the time we'd be there. I booked an RV park -- Garden of the Gods RV park -- for the couple nites. It's tight but had decent reviews.
