When we were travelling through Alaska and parts of the Lower 48 last year, we were told about this at some of the National Parks and Forests as we traveled. We thought it was a brilliant idea. A great age to get them involved with nature and the outdoors. They have enough reasoning power to convince mom and dad to visit and then keep coming back. And when younger sibling gets the pass in a couple years, the whole family is onboard. So a few tax dollars spent now leads to a lifetime of visiting ALL the wonders of the National Parks and the fees that generates.
