Acadia NP

We're considering a trip to Acadia NP just after Labor Day and are looking for advice in choosing a campground and hopefully a site
within that campground. We're hoping for a site overlooking the ocean and don't necessarily need hookups. We like to hike and flyfish,, if possible. Any help from folks who've been there would really help us out.
Thanks,
Kopak

    billtex,
Thanks for the info. I may very wellget back to you about your experience at Blackwoods cg. I plan on getting in touch with the cg once they open 5/1 and see if I can reserve a site or not. Thanks again,

You will def need a resi...
Should be no problem to get in...but I don't think I would show up there in prime season w/out a resi.

  • We went last summer and stayed at Blackwoods. Had an absolute blast..wish we could have stayed longer.
We had not been there since our Honeymoon and went back last year for our 20th to show our Son.
    We hiked/biked/kayaked...and a ate a lot of lobstah's.

You cannot choose a specific site at the NP CG's...but it is typical NP...the sites are fairly similar.

Let me know how we can help with more details...

    Acadia is a great place!

  • Thanks for the info on Narrows. Actually, we were thinking about staying in the NP, sites $20-$40/night.Anyone have any experience with the NP campgrounds?
    Thanks,

  • The Narrows Too is where we stayed. But be forewarned. The waterfront sites are way more expensive than the other sites. Current rate for waterfront $114 per night. We chose site 718 pull thru. Peek at the water. $67 per night.
  • It was a while ago - but we stayed in Trenton, at the NarrowsII RV park (on the water, but in the bay), then rode the free shuttle into Bar Harbor; and took a tour bus through the park to the top of Cadillac Mountain. But we were in our Class C, which was a bit cumbersome for the close-quarters of Bar Harbor.

I think the shuttle ran every hour - maybe every half-hour? Certainly a nice amenity!
