Michigan To Acadia NP

It would be helpful to know how many miles you are comfortable doing each day and which route you plan to go - through Canada?

We just left there this morning. We stayed at Bar Harbor Campground. Take advantage of the free bus shuttles... They pick up at most campgrounds and always pick up at all kinds of stops every 30 minutes. It's a pretty sweet deal, we never moved our rig for 4 days. It's a beautiful place.

We just left yesterday morning.Stayed in the N loop.You were just down from us in the M loop I believe across from the washroom. Some of the sites are small but they seem to be the cheapest on Mount Desert Island with great facilities. It will be our go to campground for every summer for quite awhile. I like that they do NOT take reservations and you drive in to pick your site. Just make sure to bring cash. no credit or debit.

Acadia National is spectacular. The village green is fun to walk around and the trails, mountains and beaches are amazing. water is generally 50-55 but it is refreshing.

We went in mid July,tent camped in Blackwoods CG in the NP.From our campsite a short walk to Hunter Head Beach,which is really large granite outcroppings overlooking the Atlantic ocean. We went each morning to see an outstanding sunrise...great photos
Limited amenities but worth it (a cheap nights stay too) if the weather is expected to be nice for sunrise.

We went headed up the Friday before Memorial Day, stopped at Mohegan Sun Casino for an overnighter and stayed a couple days in Freeport at Cedar haven Campground. In Bar Harbor we stayed at Hadley's point Campground and it was an enjoyable stay.

You are so right! That was us, hubby and I.

How long are you planning on staying at Acadia? I would be hesitant to recommend Blackwoods campground due to its being rustic and a tight fit, but a 36ft motorhome may be okay in there. NO hookups, dry camping. Great campground though!

Do have a towed vehicle? Because I don't know about how early the shuttle buses are... one pretty cool thing to do is to watch the sunrise from the top of Cadillac Mountain. From there, you will actually be the first people on the continental United States to see the sunrise.

Careful about the hiking trails in Acadia. The trail maps can seem deceiving -- what looks like a short, easy trail may actually be a difficult up and down climb. On the other hand, the "carriage roads" are really neat, especially if you have bicycles.

Don't forget to stop at the Jordan Pond House for popovers and coffee!

I was thinking of driving around 400 miles per day. I am looking at either going through Canada and through the states. How easy is it to go through Canada with a motor home?

No problem. We go in at Sarnia and back out at Niagara Falls without stopping. Just tell them that's what your're doing. Be aware that you'll need enhanced licences, or passports to get back into the US.
