Adding Photos

It seems way too difficult to add a photo to this forum. Is there an easy way? Facebook is easy. I am slow and not good with computers. Even tried photo bucket but failed.

  • "Drag and drop" involves clicking and holding the left mouse button down on the file you wish to copy or move, and then "dragging" it by moving the mouse with the button still held down until the file name is in the new location. You can then "drop" it by releasing the mouse button. Drag and drop works equally well in Linux and Windows. The photo site also offers an alternative method by just clicking on the "Select" button and choosing the file in the file manager window that opens on your PC.
  • Excuse my computer ignorance but how does this "drag and drop" site work. I am using Linux, Opera browser and the photo is on my hard drive. Can't figure how to get it from my hard drive to the browser.

Is "drag and drop" only for Windows (which I use only as a last resort).
  • Yup, that link is an AMAZING resource! I'm just thankful that the mod took the time to design it. But not many people know about it...

I think it should be posted at the start of each forum in BIG RED LETTERS. MAybe even with some little dancing elves or something to really draw your attention LOL

I gave up on photo bucket when it stated I was not allowed to join. Beats Me. Thanks Dutch for your advise. I did get a picture of the Loretto Chapel in Sante Fe, NM to upload. It is on the thread asking for tips for next year. With practice will come resemblence of normal.

Not allowed to join? That's a new one...

There are many other places that you can host photos...as the moderator did, there's dropbox...there's Flickr, there's picasa....and many others.
At one time, I had a photo album app on my website that others could sign up and post their pics too, but there was not enough interest at the time. Maybe I will revisit it one day.

One of the forum moderators built a site designed to make posting photos here easier. Give it a try...

    RV.NET: Photo Posting

^^ X2 ^^ In fact, I use this tool to post pictures in other forums I'm a member of. It's easier than using other forum's picture upload tools.

  • You have to have the picture hosted elsewhere...such as photbucket as you mentioned and what we use, unless we pull it from our website. Once it's on photobucket, it's pretty simple. Just go to the picture on photobucket and to the right you will see code. Click on the direct link (it should auto copy the link when you do that. if not, right click and select copy). Then come back here and click on the little picture button in the posting editor. Paste in the link (helps to select a max width of around 800...it will automatically adjust the other setting.)
