Albuquerque

Our bucket list trip is quickly approaching and one destination is going to be Albuquerque. We are planning on staying at Kirkland AFB for a couple of days and its one of those towns that has more to see and do than we have time to see and do. Does anyone have any highlights or places that we shouldn't miss. We have no children. Also any good restaurants that don't cost an arm and a leg.

  • Breaking Bad was filmed there. There may be tours, or the sites are mapped online.
  • Indian Pueblo Culteral Center. We also went to see the petroglyphs, but was some years ago. There were mixed reviews when I googled it just now. I do remember there was some walking and climbing that might be issues for people with and legs problems.
  • Right at the southwest area of town is the National Nuclear Museum with some really interesting displays. Costs a few bucks but for anybody interested in some history and related technology probably well worth it. And they have a nice collection of aircraft and other military hardware sitting around outside too.
  • I'm interested in this post. We were there last month for three days and didn't really find too much to see. I think down in the historical area there are over 300 art and/or jewelry galleries. The first couple were sort of interesting, but after that......

Did find a couple of interesting restaurants down there, but don't remember the names.

We've made reservations next year for the Balloon Festival - we'll be staying at the launching area for three nights.

So, I'm interested to see what else there is to do while we're there next time.
