Albuquerque

Looking for a good campground in Albuqueque for a couple nights. No toad on this trip, so close to activities . Any help appreciated.
  • Thanks all for your replies. We ended up having a minor engine problem in Santa Fe, so stayed there to get the problem dealt with. Ended up driving through Albuquerque with out stopping.

Stayed at TRAILER RANCH RV PARK in Santa Fe. It was a nice park.
  • We stayed at Enchanted Trails RV right off Interstate 40. It is right next to Camping World. You can stay at the Passport America rate of $15.00 per night for 2 nights or we stayed for a week for $130.00 with PA. You save a little off the regular weekly rate with PA.
They do have a pool and hot tub. We will stay again when passing through ABQ.
  • Nice thing about staying at the Isleta RV resort and taking the Rail Runner is that the downtown stop is near the bus and public transportation. Also across the street from there is a movie theater, museums are within a short walk, there are some really nice restaurants in the area, Gold Street Caffe is a personal favorite, and Tucano's Brazilian Grill is awesome too. The busses run to the Mall's and up and down Historic Route 66, to Old Town which has museums, nice restaurants and plenty of touristy shopping. If you like fishing they Isleta has fishing lakes that are stocked. The casino has several restaurants from a grill to fancy steak,

If you had a toad, I would suggest the High Desert, nice place, great folks, not expensive.

    Have Fun.

  • There is not really a place to stay in Albuquerque except the KOA which is off of east Central. It looks nice but I only live a mile away so have never camped there. On the west side of town there are two or three parks which are mentioned above. The last time I was at the KOA (getting propane tanks filled) there was a guy who had been staying at the American RV Park and he hated it and was getting a space at the KOA. American was having utilities problems apparently. With no toad, I would probably stay at the casino mentioned above and use the RailRunner. It is a long walk to Old Town from the RailRunner station however if that is one place you want to visit.
  • We have stayed several times at High Desert RV Park west of town on I40. It is very nice and less than $30 a night. Pull through sites and good utilities, propane, and a very nice laundry and rec room.
  • We stayed at the American RV Park I think it is called. It is right off the interstate and breakfast is included in the rate. It is an easy drive to downtown.
  • We stay at the KOA on East Central every time we come to Albuquerque and it is a nice park. It's not cheap, but we feel secure there. If you want to stay in Albuquerque this is the place to stay. We always ask for 50 amp and the sites are good sized.
  • The only central park is the KOA and it does not get good reviews. I would check www.rvparkreviews.com and look for one that has access to the train, like the Isleta Casino RV park listed in the above post, or the Albuquerque North Bernalillo KOA.
  • 5 miles south just off I 25 is the Isleta Casino RV park and it is very nice.
shuttle runs to the casino and back.
the NM Rail train comes by the rv park, walking distance to the boarding platform, and takes you a lot of places, from Santa Fe down south of the casino.
It stops in Albuquerque, etc. It is not expensive.
The rv park runs about $35.00 night.
Buffet at the casino if you like buffets.
  • Others will be able give a more updated reply, I'm sure. It's been some time since we've camped by ABQ.

At the US 550, Just minutes North of Albuquerque (off of I-25, exit 242) in Bernalillo, is Coronado State Monument where Francisco Vásquez de Coronado—with 300 soldiers and 800 Indian allies from New Spain—entered the valley while looking for the fabled Seven Cities of Gold. Monument

The Coronado Campground is a Bernalillo city campground (used to be a state part) at the entrance to the State Monument. Wasn't a bad site some years ago, haven't been there in some time as I mentioned. It was a state park when we had spent time there.

Not close to activities, however. Maybe one could use the NM Rail Runner to get to some of the attractions.

Lot of things to do in the Albuquerque Area.

    Albur'que's Old Town.

Might find a good Green Chile Burger at Owl Cafe in ABQ, never been there however.
