Allaire state park in new jersey

Anyone on here familiar with allaire? I have South Jersey camping plans for the long memorial day weekend about 20 miles South of Allaire, and I am considering heading out Thursday evening right after work and staying there just for the one night mainly to avoid a long GS Parkway trip on the Friday of memorial day weekend, but also because my kids have never stayed in a state park. I would like to show them that life is possible without electric water and sewer hook up for one night. I also hear that there is great bike riding trails there and buy kids would enjoy doing that for a few hours friday morning before we get back in the truck for the last 20 miles drive

Any thoughts?
  • Howdy neighbor! I'm about 5 blocks from the Paramus border in sleepy little Maywood. We'll be in a tiny single axle hybrid (13 foot box + tounge when closed) pulled by a ford explorer. We will only be staying for one night.
  • Hey! Thats me!

We love Allaire! Heading back there again end of May. Where from in north NJ? I am in the Paramus area.

Let me know what type of camper you are heading there with and I can give some detailed info. The park is a little tight in the sites to the rear of the CG but a great place to camp.

The village is great to visit - we saw about half of it on our last visit... hope to see the rest this time.
  • Thanks. I hear that the campsites are very close to the highway and therefore you hear a lot if noise at nite. Can anyone confirm this, or recommend sites away from the noise?
  • I live 3? miles from Allaire and ride my mountain bike in the park several times each week. Allaire SP is quite spread out. The camping area is a mile from the main park and the main park is 2 miles from the main bike trails on Hospital Road. The trails are quite advanced, however, there is a great "rail" bike trail from the Park all the way to the ocean.

The Camping area has some nice hiking trails and is probably quiet before Memorial Day - check out the "Village" at the park and the train rides. Should keep you busy for a while.
