Alsatian RV Resort
Well, I've got good news and I've got bad news. First the good news. What a beautiful RV park. It is located between Castroville - San Antonio and Hondo, Texas. Great little park adjacent to a beautiful golf course. The pads are very nice -- wide and concrete level. The landscaping is very well planned and planted -- very welcoming. The facilities are top notch with a bar and restaurant open on the weekends. The pool is heated but too low to make it a good swim. 85 degrees is not close to being warm enough. It is a beautiful pool and pool area though. Nice for a wedding. The owner(s) have spared no expense in opening this park. Now, the bad news. Location, location, location. Nothing will kill an RV park quicker than a poor location. Alsation is too far out from any kind of entertainment or shopping. As per their website it states it is 20 miles to San Antonio - nope! It is 20 miles from the edge of Castroville to the edge (City Limit) of San Antonio but the city proper is further and even further to a grocery store. NOTHING in Castroville -- small Lowes grocery store. Hondo is 14 miles the other way and there is a Wal Mart there and a well stocked HEB. Bandera is 28 miles North of Hondo and is a pretty cool little town with some unique shops and shopping. Kerrville is about 25 miles north if Bandera and is pretty cool too. So, there you have it. Very nice park worth your consideration for a short stay. But as for an extended stay? If you don't play golf you have nothing to do and it is freaking COLD this far South.
