Ann Arbor, MI campgrounds

We have a 28-ft travel trailer and plan to spend 4-5 days in Ann Arbor, MI this July. I’m not finding a great selection of campgrounds near the city.

Does anybody have any recommendations? We’d like electric hookup and a location that would make it easy to drive into Ann Arbor each day. Thank you.
  • Washtenaw Farm Council Grounds is located on the SW side of AA.
  • Detroit/Greenfield, located in Ypsilanti, is your best bet IMHO. But depends on where in AA you are going. During rush hour there is traffic but not anything to worry about. You'll hit traffic no matter where you stay near AA. Just travel between 9am and 4pm or after 6.
  • Bishop Lake campground in the Brighton Recreation area is a 30 minute drive to AA. Bruin Lake campground in the Pinckney Recreation area is 35 minutes. Greenfield is 25 minutes, same for Wayne Co. fairgrounds. All driving times are per Google Maps. The latter two, however, are east of AA and closer to the Detroit Metro area, and traffic is going to be heavier.

    I'd go with Bishop Lake.
  • Have used Detroit Greenfield. It will be closest to AA and also for trips to Detroit area.

Park is a pretty standard one beside a small lake. It should suit your requirements

The various regional and state parks are further away and may be fully booked in summer. If you can get reservations, the cost should be less and a drive to AA is still possible. Facilities comparable to the D-G park.

    Wayne County Fairgrounds

I would not look in Wayne County. Too industrial/residential and not that close to AA.

AA is in Wastenaw County. There are several nice state/county parks in southern Livingston county that are really pretty close to AA.
  • Detroit Greenfield RV park in Ypsilanti looks to be the closest.
  • There are a couple south of AA in Dundee, don't remember the names. Bishop Lake State Park in Brighton, north of AA. Detroit Greenfield in Ypsilanti, east of AA. Lastly, there is no such thing as an easy drive into AA.
