By the way, as you head south from Moab to Gouldings, there is an excellent museum of Ancestral Puebloan Ruins at Blanding right on your route. It's called Edge of the Cedars SP, I believe. Has ruins out the back door. Very absorbing place if you enjoyed Mesa Verde.
You also have a question mark about going to Needles. It's a pretty long trek in and back if you're not spending the night. But Newspaper Rock is a much shorter distance if you like petroglyphs.
