To those that complain about him damaging the environment, yes he would have left footprints that may take years to fade completely away. However if you go to any of the major thermal features in Yellowstone you can find wildlife footprints on those same fragile surfaces. On the topic of plugging up a Geyser by sticking his hand in and dislodging rocks, sure it is possible, though unlikely to make much difference given the disruptive forces at play every time the geyser erupts. In other words anything he might accidentally dislodge, would likely also be dislodged by the force of the erupting water within a matter of hours.
