Like the others said, it's best to download the MVUM's and study them. As back-up call the Ranger and ask them which roads they recommend. When we were in Prescott NFS earlier this year we found several roads that were marked as "dispersed camping allowed" on the MVUM, but when we actually got there we found signs all around saying "no camping". Very frustrating. Seems there was a disconnect between city & forest service, or something like that. We did eventually find a spot, but it took some time.
