Any one else giving up snow birding due to the covid

Our chances of going down south are slim to none, hopeful for at least a month at some point in the new year as we bought a Harley and couldn't bring it back(had to rush home and no way of bringing back)fast forward this will not happen again as we traded for a toy hauler so if the borders open at some point I may enjoy it next summer keeping fingers crossed.

we're staying put this winter. not worried for ourselves so much. just don't want to be locked down again.

We never left the Phoenix area this summer because of Dave's open heart surgery. Worst summer to stay in the valley, but we made it. Now every day sees more people coming back. Park Models opening up and RVs coming in, only Canadian plates seems to be those who store their cars for the winter here. And no RVs with Canadian plates. Lots of Park Models up for sell around us that belong to Canadians, don't know if that is just the virus or usual turn over due to age. And the valley is certainly doing better in terms of cases of the virus than a huge swath of the midwest right now.

We’re heading to Florida. We would rather hunker down on the beach looking at the Gulf of Mexico instead of our fireplace. We will take all the same precautions as we do at home and then some, because our experience is that many Floridians believe they are immune :w.

We are heading out at the end of the week. The incidence of virus where we stay in the Hill Country is very similar to that of our location here in Iowa. We've had very few cases and only one death of a person who had other severe medical issues. Like many others, I'm sure, we have just as many friends and support there as we do here. We may have to spend just as much time around home down there as we do here but at least it will be warmer.

Going south as usual. We believe we can avoid COVID by wearing masks, social distancing, washing hands, etc. equally well regardless of where we are and what the local case load is. Another lockdown won't keep us from doing what we like to do (golfing, hiking, biking). The choice for us is cold and rain in the Pacific NW versus warm and sun in Palm Springs, CA.

We are a bit concerned that a big surge could limit the availability of hospital beds should we need one for any reason; however, that could happen at home in the NW too. As far as support networks go, they are the same both places.

11 Days and we're on the road again!

We're staying home in Western NY this year as well. Our concern is another shut down. We don't want to spend a bunch of money to be confined to our RV for who knows how long with all of our support system at home. Not to mention, I got ill last year and ended up in the hospital (not covid related). Just about everything was out of network and not covered at all until we met our high deductible threshold so it was paid out of pocket.
