Any place to dry camp or Boondock near Solvang/Buelton?

We were looking to drive up to Solvang on an upcoming Saturday/Sunday. Looking for a spot for 1 night. Flying Flags has a 2 night minimum.
Anything out there? Could drive back home if we had too, but that's a lot of driving for 1 day.

  • How about Gaviota SP or El Capitán SB or Refugio SB.

:C Carpinteria SB has Enroute Campsites as does El Capitán SB. "Because these areas are used as parking lots during the day, you must leave them by 9:00 a.m. the following morning."

A little farther away, Emma Wood SB or Lake Casitas.

Jalama Beach County Park seems to be in a somewhat remote spot in County of Santa Barbara.

Jalama Beach is approximately an hour drive from Santa Barbara and a 45-minute drive from Lompoc. A sign 4.5 miles south of Lompoc off Highway 1 will direct you onto Jalama Road. Follow this scenic 14.5 mile road to the coast. The park entrance will be at the end of the road.

A Somewhat Remote Place with a Jalama Beach Store and Grill serving "World Famous Jalama Burgers" & an extended menu that includes homemade clam chowder, chile verde and "Aunt Ruth's Raw Apple Cake." With 109 campsites, all overlooking the ocean or beachfront. Each site has a picnic table and BBQ pit, with hot showers, restrooms and water nearby. 31 sites offer electrical hookups, and dump stations are available. Campsites reservations are available.
$$$$ :( Fees to Be Somewhat Remote

:h Perhaps, one could find a place to do an overnight at the Rincon Parkway - Ventura, somewhat between Ventura and Carpinteria. But on a weekend?

Or Thornehill Broome CG (which is somewhat simular to Rincon Parkway) one of the two CG at Point Mugu SP. It seems Sycamore Canyon CG is also open now. The beach is 15 miles south of Oxnard on Highway One.

McGrath SB would also be one, but it is closed now due to flooding.

Lake Cachuma seems to have a two night (weekend) requirement. Lake Cachuma

But near there, Rancho Oso or one somewhat pricey Ocean Mesa At El Capitan at Goleta.

The Enroute Campsites at Carpinteria or El Capitán might be your best bet of finding one just to dry camp. It seems either will cost $35.00 for Enroute overnight. Fees

Seem the same phone # is for both sites: call (805) 968-1033 for status of the parks.
