Anyone been to Emma Wood State Beach Near Ventura CA?

Hi,

We have a reservation for 2 nights at Emma Wood State Beach near Ventura CA.

This is a beach basic dry camp. We understand this.

What we don't know is if they have a dump station close by where we can fill potted water on arrival and dump our tanks when leaving.

If anyone has been to this place can they please let me know?

Plus any other information that you may have would be great such as things to do and resources etc.

Many Thanks

Steve.

  • I forgot to mention there is a "honey" truck service that comes twice a week, I think, and will dump tanks a sell you fresh water.
  • I don't think Emma wood has a dump station or water. The next close rv resort is ventura beach rv resort but they charge $20 to use the dump station. I suggest everyone read the negative comments in yelp about ventura beach rv resort.
I have camped north of Emma wood at the rincon, also drycamping. Faria beach county park is very close to rincon and the very nice people that run their burger stand explained that you can pay a fee, self service by way of envelopes and drop box, and dump at any empty campsite with full hookups...chances of driving in with full tanks and finding an empty full hookups campsite are... not likely in summertime. Of the four county parks on the beach there Emma wood and the rincon are dry camps, faria and hobson have some sites with hookups.
  • I did some research on that location and there about 4 different beaches there although it looks like one.

You can't make reservations. You pull in, find a spot, fill in the paperwork and deposit same with cash in the depository.

The scuttlebutt has it that the local gendarmerie and fire squads squat on the spaces for their friends/family etc. making it very difficult to find a spot.
