Anyone stay at St Louis RV Park

I have stayed at the St.Louis RV Park and wouldn't recommend it. As others have said, you can get on the Metro right at the Casino parking lot. Can't get much closer than that. It's closer to the Arch than the St. Louis RV Park, actually. Casino is very safe, and I've got on the Metro there many, many times. That's where most IL folks park when going to Busch Stadium. The Casino is very safe, but go straight there off the interstate. You don't want to dally around in that area. Looks a little "shady" for the short span from interstate to Casino.

If you stay at the Casino, you'll be treated to a wonderful skyline night view of the city lights and the Arch. I second the City Museum. It's a must-do while in STL.

Casino Queen also has a shuttle to the Cards baseball games. They pick you up and bring you back. Lots of people who are not even staying at the casino use this service. The Casino and campground is fenced and there is lots of security. Everyone was super nice and friendly. That is where we will stay the next time we head to St. Louis for a ball game. Most of the other campgrounds are way out of town.

We've stayed at the St. Louis RV park a couple of times and found it to be a very convenient location for seeing things in the city. The area isn't fancy by any stretch of the imagination but we felt safe enough there (and yes there is a police station across the street). Basically an industrial area just west of downtown but with fairly new businesses, nothing rundown/abandoned/burnt out. Just a fenced in parking lot with hookups, clean washrooms, a pool which looked pretty well kept up when we were there, nice folks running it. You probably would need to drive to get to the various attractions, not far but a bit much to walk, so no toad might be an issue. The Arch is a must see and City Museum has to be experienced, no way to adequately describe it. A bit farther west of the park next to Washington University is Forest Park, beautiful huge city park with museums, the zoo, lots of walking & biking paths, all free. Also highly recommended.

First time we stayed in St Louis was St Louis RV PK. It was fine although not in a good part of town but I don't know that there is any good part of town in St Louis. There were some interesting but harmless characters living there. For sure the other side of the river is not a good area. We stayed in Cahokia a few times. The RV pk isn't much but was close to everything. Also stay at a place called Covered Bridge in Fenton or Arnold not sure which town but they are next to each other.

These are all great places to visit, except that there is no old capitol building downtown. You're probably thinking of the Old Courthouse, the white building with the green dome just west of the Arch grounds. It's a spectacular building, but not a formal capitol. It's the site where the original Dred Scott case was decided.

There is a former state capitol on historic Main Street in St. Charles, about 25 miles west of downtown St. Louis. St. Charles was the state capital (as opposed to capitol, which is a building) before the capital was moved to Jefferson City.

We spent a couple of nights in the Casino Queen RV park last summer. Basically a full hook-up gravel parking lot, but very convenient to the arch and downtown via the adjacent metro station. There are friendly shuttle drivers that will drive you between the park, casino, and metro stop if you don't want to walk it. The park itself is pretty secure, and we never felt unsafe.

I stayed at the St Louis RV park this time last year. It is a seedy area in the middle of town. Basically a parking lot with hook-ups. We stayed there five days during a robotics competition at the St Louis Rams arena. We didn't have any problems and the host was very nice. We had a toad to drive back and forth to the arena and I am not sure I would chance walking. We did walk from the arena to the arch with a group. I found the entire St Louis downtown area to be depressing due to boarded up and dilapidated buildings. Not a tourist destination. We were in a 40' motorhome so you will have no problem getting into and out of the park.
