Hello,Due to illness and other issues we were not able to confirm a vacation date. My wife just found out she is off July 2nd through July 12th. We want to go to Myrtle Beach but every campground is full except for Apache Family Campground. Has anyone stayed there recently? All the reviews in RV Park Reviews seem to be from last year.They only have July 5th through the 12th open in the shaded section.Other parks I tried with no openings:Myrtle Beach KOALakewoodOcean LakesPiratelandMyrtle Beach State ParkHuntingdon Beach State ParkCyprus CampgroundI am waiting to hear back from Willowtree ResortAny help will be appreciated!Thanks!Dave

myrtle beach travel park is really nice. We spent a week there last year. Everyone says its the nicest one but its the only place we've been at myrtle beach so I have nothing to compare it to.

Grapeful Sisters is a LONG way from everything, it is way in the boonies. We stayed there for two weeks last summer and had to do a lot of driving.

When I called they were booked but I called again and got a space starting July 5th

We will be there starting July 10th. Can't wait. We are thinking about going deep sea fishing this year. Haven't been out of MB before. Grew up deep sea fishing out of Panama City with my grandma.

We always go to Charleston which, honestly, is much better than Myrtle Beach.

OP here,

We have stayed at Willowtree many times in the past. When I called they were booked but I called again and got a space starting July 5th. Not ideal but it will be our first trip in over three years!

We will drive through Apache and see for ourselves this trip and then decide.

We spend our winters at MBTP and have been to Apache many times on a golf cart. It's an ok park, sites seem a little tighter than we are used to but they have all the amenities. It's not my first choice but I would certainly stay there if the others were full.

We only stay at apache campground, a really nice fishing pier and a great beach area. You are close to most everything. The bathhouses are dated for sure, but they have been improving the sites and adding a lot of pull throughs. If you like being on the beach you will like apache. Willow tree is nice but not on the beach, it's on a lake. I don't go to the beach to camp at a lake.

I was going to suggest Hilton Head Island Motorcoach Resort, but I see you have a 5th wheel. It's further down the road, but they will more than likely have space available. And they are cheaper than the campgrounds in MB. There is another RV park on the island, but we have never been in it. I heard it's nice, but have no idea of if they would have anything available.

That's because the front of the campground becomes part of the ocean at high tide at MBTP...lol

If you don't mind being 15 minutes from the ocean beach the I would give Willow Tree another phone call. It is one of the nicest campgrounds we have camped at. They have a 30 acre spring feed lake with a sandy beach, pool and hot tub. And just a short drive to the beach and all the crazy of Myrtle Beach. We have 10 days booked this summer, can't wait.

Apache is dated and needs some TLC, but you are at the beach. If that is all that is available, then get it. We stay at MBTP all the time but I have to admit that Apache has a much better beach area, especially at high tide.

You may also be able to get in other parks if you are willing to move spots a time or two...

As far as Apache goes...some people like it. We drove through and have no desire to be there. But that is our opinion. Our first choice is Ocean Lakes with a paved pad. Our second choice is Ocean Lakes without a paved pad...lol
