- Lenny_KExplorerWe'll be heading out to Quartzsite again around middle Nov. The weather here is still really nice, but in Oct the rain starts. That is when we get itchy to go down south to enjoy the sunshine.

DASU ...............on the road again !!!!!!!!!!!! No more cold beer in the cold north during winter
Boils down to.......darn I missed that Southern sun. - oldtrojan66ExplorerI would not normally add a comment to a four page thread, but counting down is a very important function to me. The wife, not so much. We have a little over fifteen months to retirement and what I hope will be a life of travel and enjoying God's great creation is as much detail as we choose. We also plan a trip to Alaska, in the summer of '15. My only misgiving is hoping we haven't waited too long. Counting on our health hold out for a few more years.
- John_JoeyExplorerThe only bad thing about taking little winter vacations is that airplane ride back. Nothing is more depressing than leaving that southern sun/warmth only to look out the plane window at the frozen northern tundra during the descent. At nighttime the houses look like lite up igloo's. In the airport you have to change out of your shorts and into long pants then swap your sandals for mukluks, and wait, where did I put that big bulky jacket.
I did that during most of my working career always dreaming about the time when I could kiss that stuff goodbye and become a snowbird for real. Heading south for a week or so are just vacations that you take to break up the long cold dark northern winters. It is nice in the sense that your places to visit is no-longer dictated by if you can drive there safely or not. - WTTCSExplorerDASU ...............on the road again !!!!!!!!!!!! - DaSuExplorerWe are counting the days also.... Trips planned in Oct., Nov.,Dec., and a nice get away in Feb. . Leaves plenty of time to enjoy the Fall,Family,Home,Holidays and Community while still snowbirding in a different way then most on this site. We are joining the many who have found different ways of breaking up the winter other than using a RV for a winter home .Also staying active , seeing other places and making new friends compliment all of these travels. Life is Good.
- 8ntw8tnExplorerWe leave November 1st, also. Really looking forward to getting back to the Texas Hill Country, but SO much to do before leaving.....
- robatthelakeExplorerNovember 1st for Us!
- Bama_bluejayExplorerWe're leaving home Day or 2 after Christmas. We enjoy our nice camping weather here. We're frequently still using our air conditioning at Christmas. Just enjoy traveling and it can get mighty cold Jan. & Fed. around here. Fl. will be our destination for Jan. & Feb.
