Assateague Island Reservations

Well, this morning was when reservations opened for June/July and I wasn't expecting sites to go so quickly. It opened up at 8am and I was on the site getting ready well ahead of time. I started clicking "Book Now" at 7:58am and kept getting a message to try back at 8am and then got campsite unavailable. All sites with electric on the weekend we were shooting for were gone within the 1st minute. I was able to get a site further back in the loop for a different weekend, but I was shocked how quickly those sites went.

Oh well, we'll be celebrating by daughters Bday a few weeks early this year;)
  • Since you mention electric sites, I assume that you are trying to book at the State Park. No electric at the nearby National Seashore, but perhaps you will have better luck there.

Avoiding weekends and holidays is also helpful.
  • I was finally able to find 2 available sites on a different weekend, but man they filled up fast. We have our reservation confirmed, so all worked out.

    Every year...:(

I got 5 days in August at an electric site. They were all gone in 2 minutes and I was shocked I got one. Here in Michigan, they go just as quickly, especially on a great lake.
I'm pretty excited about it. Kids have never been to the ocean, seen a dolphin, etc. Actually we want to go crabbing while we're there.
  • I'd take an early lunch and be there at 8, but the office doesn't open until 8:30. They'd be gone by then. Next week they open up April to June reservations, maybe I'll try for an electric site. I had an appt yesterday at 8, so I was doomed from the beginning.

That should be an awesome trip. I think we get spoiled being so close to the ocean, but I can't think of a better first way to see it.

We went to Assateague about 10 years ago for a day trip and it was great. Now that the kids are older it should really be a blast.
