Why didn't you tell your friends to just drive in to your site? Is there a locked gate to the CG?
I really think you are making a mountain out of a molehill.
I admit the CG operators had a bad attitude, but just ignore them.
I've been to this cg twice, most recently Memorial Day weekend. Yes, there's a gate, and yes, the owners (especially Bonnie) are a little rigid with the rules.
When we were there, my parents stayed in an area hotel (sadly they sold their mh) and we took them to Sight And Sound for my mom's 80th birthday. We wanted to bring them back for cake and coffee at around 8 at night. They were there for less than an hour and we had to pay $12. They didn't even bring their car in, we had picked them up.
Yeah, we knew the rules regarding guests, but figured we could get a break since it was later in the evening and they were just going to sit with us. No way, the owners are that rigid.
It's too bad. The cg is in a gorgeous area. There's not much at the cg which suits us fine for a quiet getaway. We met a couple there that have been camping there for like 20 years. They said when these owners took over, the place became almost hostile. Which would explain why when every other cg in the area is booked for a holiday weekend, there's sites available here.
