Bar Harbor Maine

Looking for a campground in or around Bar Harbor. This would be our first trip to Maine. Campground would have to be on the water (bay or ocean side) and have full hookups. Any recommendations on places to eat would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance
  • We stayed a week this past summer at Timberland Acres RV Park. Very nice place and it really is not that far to Acadia and Bar Harbor.

    no sewer hook-ups

But those pies were sure tastey!
  • Bar Harbor KOA-full hook-up sites and on the water. Pricey and sites are small but the sunsets make it worth it. Lobster dinners are done on site as well as breakfast most weekends. Any of the lobster shacks along Rt. 3 are great. There's a restaurant on Rt. 3 in Trenton/Ellsworth that's an offshoot of Trenton Lobster Pound (used to be called Maine Luau) which serves great lobster and barbecue. Blaze downtown is one of our favorites. Try the grilled lobster there.
  • Narrows Too and the restaurant across the street are good choices. We've also stayed at the KOA just across the bridge. We were right on the water so didn't have sewer, but just off the water the have full hookups.

X2. A great spot to stay which is actually in Trenton. There is a fantastic Lobster Restaurant across the street where you can get a Lobster dinner for $16. Blueberry Hill is also the spot to get ice cream. It is about four miles before you get to The Narrows II.

  • We stayed at Smugglers Den campground in Southwest Harbor. Not far from Bar Harbor. Not on the water but nice little town close to the water.
  • You will probably have to settle for no sewer hookup when close the water -- Bill Willard
