Bar Harbor RV Park in Aberdeen MD

Has anyone here stayed at this RV park. It's a small place right on the Chesapeake Bay. I'm looking for a new place to go in two weeks.

here's the webpage:

Just wondering.........why would they call this place Bar Harbor? Bar Harbor is in Maine. We were there in June.

For the same reason they call a town in NY Urbana, when the town of Urbana is also in Maryland, Virginia and Iowa.

    It's just a name.

    and Illinois, and Ohio.

I wondered why myself. But there are always several places with the same name.
  • If the KOA in Millersville is open, stay there. They have lots of seasonal and the place floods from time to time but it is the one of the few places you have to choose from.
  • Our trip to Tuckahoe State Park this past weekend in MD was excellent. We stayed in the electric loop site 24, which was very large and we had plenty of space between us and the neighbors. The CG roads were paved and the sites were level with crushed stone and a nice fire ring. The dump station was very convenient and located on the exit road. I didn't need the bath house, but checked them out and they were very nice and clean. At the entrance of the electric loop was a shed where you could get bundles of firewood for $4 (self-service). There was also a shed where they sold various food, t-shirts, and other stuff. The park has a frisbee golf course, which we plan to try out next time we go back.

The park is located in a rural area that mostly consists of farmland. If you want to relax, this is the place to camp. Yet it's close enough to Annapolis and other developed areas if you want to sight see or eat out.

3 nights stay, including the $8 reservation fee, was still under $100 for an out of stater. All in all it was an excellent trip and well worth the money.
  • Another thing that I found convenient: You reserve on line, and then when you arrive, your name is on a list at the unmanned check in counter, and there is a ticket on the site marker with you name. So you don't have to talk to anyone or exchange any info or wait in any lines. Just pull into your site and set up!
  • Also in the upper DELMARVA are Killens Pond, just S of Dover & Martinak SPs near Denton. Both are favourites of ours. Happen to be at Killens Pond right now. Only 3 others besides the hosts.

Headed to Martinak Sat for 2 nights.

I was thinking about trying Killens next, since it is closer to home.
  • We've been twice, once it rained ('82)and the other was during a full moon ('09). Both times the bay overflowed into the campground and some sites were actually under water. Camp on!
