When in Lake Charles you can go south to Cameron Parish and visit Cameron Prairie Wildlife Reserve. It's a National Wildlife Reserve with a visitors center and walk. It also has a photo blind you can sit in out in a planted field that should be full of ducks and geese that time of year. You can drive around that planted field also. I often see people out there during the winter photographing and filming the wildlife. It's just north of the Intracostal Waterway. You could stay at one of the Casinos in Lake Charles and drive down south on the Creole Nature Trail.
