Battery drain solved

Was boondocking yesterday and couldn't figure out why my batteries were draining. The inverter shut down last night from low voltage.

Turns out the Dometic refer switch to gas was not actually switching. Played with it a few times and it seems ok now. Heads up for anyone with similar "where's the juice going?" issues.

  • Hi smk,

I guess it is time to talk watts LOL! I had forgotten that 2oldman had "joined the dark side" of 24 volts.

    24 volt inverter

my 12v pulls about 28 so I figured half. ;)
  • We never run with the fridge on electric, seen a lot of people learn the hard way after installing an inverter. Electric only @ home base.
  • Hi 2oldman,

    Good sleuthing!

So fridge was 'stuck' on electric and inverter was supplying fridge?
Yep. And absolutely no indication of same.
  • Hard to miss 14 amps. One of the perils of whole house inverter. Glad it was found.

I love my BATTERY MONITOR PANEL... i can monitor each battery bank for their 12VDC levels and a master DC current flow of whats connected to the battery bank.

I can tell at a glance what is happening long before it gets into a dark situation.

I also can run on one battery or all batteries by switching in and out each battery as required. This allows me to charge one battery by itself and run off the others at the same time...

Great PLAN B thing... One hiccup will not put me into the dark...

Sounds like you will be in need of a new eyebrow panel.
Might want to unplug fridge so inverter doesn't drain battery and leave you in the dark
