- Campfire_TimeExplorerSmoky Bear about 20 minutes east of Gatlinburg away from the chaos. No riverside sites, but this place is wooded, quiet, squeaky clean, and all full hook up sites. The owners are excellent hosts.
- dodge_guyExplorer IIX2 on Imagination Mountain! great place with excellent owners.
- MerrykaliaExplorerIf you plan to have a "somewhat private" site, you will not find one of those in Gatlinburg or Pigeon Forge. Most campgrounds/parks are pretty large, but have very small sites so they can pack in more campers. You might find a lake or river site, but your neighbor will likely be closer than 20 feet away. Even in the NFS area, (Elkmont), the sites are close and on the river.
If you want privacy, think about staying outside the area or on the other side of the mountain in Townsend. Adventure Bound and Imagination Mountain, which are in Cosby, TN are smaller sites, so privacy will be minimal. - twins89ExplorerBe sure to visit "some guys signs" for a sign for your camper. We love ours from there. In addition, most of Gatlinburg is still standing and was not taken out by the fire.
- thedoghouseExplorerImagination Mountain formerly Jellystone has some great spots by the river. Sites 23-27 are right against river. 10’ or less. Nice and relaxing . I’ve also stayed at Adventure Bound but didn’t get river spot. They also have some in back section
