Best RV park in Jackson, WY

I'm trying to decided weather to stay at the Jackson Hole Snake River KOA or The Virginian while in the area. Anyone prefer one over the other and why? Or do you know of and recommend another. We are already staying one night in Colter Bay. Thanks for any advice.

  • The Virginian is the best one for location for folks who like to be close to town amenities...and it appears to be well kept.
We prefer Gros Ventre, but we are set up well for camping without elec hookups.
  • We just made reservations at the Virginian, this will be our third trip over the years. It is a (or was last time)a gravel parking lot type campground behind the Hotel lodge. You have access to the lodge pool, laundry, etc. The advantage is that it is in town. Up close and personal to all the tourist attractions. Sometimes we like to be remote, sometimes not...this is a not trip.
  • For the sake of convenience we stay at The Virginian, but if you wanted to "stay in the area", my pick would be Colter Bay; probably among the nicest in the West.
  • Depends a lot on what you consider "Best". I stay at the Virginian for the hookups. I don't much care what any CG looks like. They all look the same at night and that's the only time I'm there. Same reason I stay at Grizzly when visiting YNP.

It's close to Jackson; out just far enough.
  • The KOA is near Hobart Junction, about 10-12 miles south of Jackson. The Virginian RV Park is in Jackson, so no pretty views. Fee at the Virginian when we were there a couple of weeks back was $68/night. No idea what the KOA charges.

We do most of our camping at the Gros Ventre campground when visiting the Tetons. $11.50 with the geezer pass. We have seen Moose in the campground on a number of visits.
  • We stayed at the KOA in 2012, it was nice and the Snake runs right behind it with great access. The only issue some might have is the spaces are kind of tight.
  • Gros Ventre. Great CG if you don't mind dry camping. Might get lucky & have some animals come strolling through.
