"Best" What is "best"

Please when you ask for the "best" camp site or camp ground list what is "best" for you.

Best for me is good view, no one close by, and free. I like to boondock.

Best for you may be Full hookups with lots of playgrounds for the kids and shopping close by. Next to an amusement park.
  • For us the best spots are the ones where we are never bothered by neighbors. It doesn't matter if it's an RV park, St park or forest service CG. As long as we don't have loud neighbors we're happy. We don't have loud neighbors at home so why would we want to cram ourselves in some spot with noisy people? Which is why we hardly go to St parks or RV parks during the summer. They're just too packed, at last here in Oregon.
  • I think what is left out in a lot of topics and posts is HOW you are RV'ing. Which dictates what type of answers are given that can confuse the OP.

That and the need for info for a CG to stay the night vs a CG destination.

    Weekend RV'er
    Vacation
    Snow Bird
    Full time

We all each have different wants and needs in a place to stay.

Throw in the Boondocker boys in the mix and for sure you can confuse an OP asking for where the best place to stay is!! :B:B
  • As full timers, we like full hookups or at least water and electric, level parking, patio, big enough so you don't reach out and touch your neighbor, some grass and trees but open enough to get satellite, laundry. We like Corps of Engineers parks for example. Other amenities in the campground like pools and hot tubs don't attract us. Things to do nearby are more important. Scenery, museums, national or state parks, historical sites, restaurants.
  • Gee. I always thought "best" meant the place where they have competitions for the best awning lights and yard art.

Double ditto. The tendency to ask about a place without putting the state location in the title doesn't help them either. Many places have identical names.
  • Whenever anyone asks for "best place to stay" or "what things to see" or "what route to take", etc, my usual answer is a question or more as to their interests, their rig (if if it now shown), etc.

There is no best answer (little play on words there!).
  • Yep, it's very subjective. For me, scenic setting, quiet, preferably all by myself. I'm glad we don't all like the same things, or there would be no boondocking sites left. :W
  • I have 2 bests :)

one is privacy and nature and state parks with minimum human impact and killer beach or river or mountains.

second is a full hookup with all the bells and whistles when I am in a destination area for camping with kiddo activities planned like Gettsyburg or Disney or Aquariums etc.

I plan trips for destinations, activities wanted at that time and what kind of mood we are in.

I am interchangeable on what is best when we decide what type of trip we are in the mood for.

state parks and privacy mostly win out :)

beauty of rv'ing. you can have what ya want, when you want it and how you want to immerse yourself in the people contact. so many options.
  • Exactly!
If they asked for my "Best" spot they would find themselves in a wooded swampy area about 12 miles from anything and no cell reception. If they went to my sons best spot they would find themselves with a fhu, walk in pool, pool bar, on the gulf!
