Best/most reliable inverter

I'm investing in solar this season and I am shopping for a 2000w Pure sine inverter. I currently have 3 100w Renogy panels, 40a ppt controller and 2 12v 110ah agm batteries. The batteries haven't arrived yet and I will be adding one more before the season kicks off for a total capacity of 330ah. I may add another panel later but I'll wait on that until I see how things go this season first.

Anyway, with 330ah and 300w of charging I figure that if I feel like running a microwave for 15 minutes a day or other appliances, I can do that as long as I'm careful not to overdo it. The microwave is rated at 1350w so I figure that I'll need a 200w inverter to run it. I know that Renogy is a great company with excellent customer service and warranty because I've had experience in using both in the past. They sell a 2000w inverter that I am considering. I've also seen these available from companies like GoPower and Samlex that seem to get good reviews. They can each be found for around $400.

Which of these three brands would be the best or most reliable? Are there other manufacturers I should consider?

You're not going to find a decent 2kw PSW inverter for $400.

Allow me to rephrase: I can't find those inverters for $400
  • I have a Xantrex 600 but dont use anywhere near it's full capacity. As I researched I came to believe that the Magnum is about the best. My system included a 3000 remote start Honda so we would have air conditioning if needed so I also use it to run my heavy appliances.

If my refrigerator becomes an issue and I convert to a 10 cu ft residential I may also power it with Xantrex but it will also have a large buffer in sizing. If I were to run an inverter at the high end of it's operating range I would want the best available.

In a different rig I had an Aims 400 watt that accidentally got connected to my propane frig and blew it's guts out instantly without blowing the fuse. Poor product = low tolerance.
  • Check this one I have been looking for a 2000w for my setup and I came across this it's basically all in one with a auto transfer built in and it won't break the bank.

I've never had that big of an Power Inverter but even my 600WATT unit really draws the DC power from the battery setup. I'm pulling 22 AMPS every evening from 6PM to 11PM and my 255AHs battery setup will drop to around 50% charge state by 6AM the next morning. This is when I bring them back up to their 90% charge state using my 2KW generator setup for three hours. Been doing this metho for several years now and still have the same batteries that were installed in late 2008...

The 2000Watt Power Inverters will be pulling in excess of 170AMPS from your batteries when loaded down. Gonna need some good batteries for this... You will want to know how long your batteries will hold up with that much WATTAGA being pulled and only drop to their 50% charge state (12.0VDC). You can look up your battery Reserve Capacity specs which is usually listed in minutes and then divide that by 2 which give you the 50% capacity. I suspect my battery bank might last 30 minutes doing this much DC Current load...

I would also insure the Power Inverter is a Pure Sine Wave type then you never have to worry about what is plugged into it. I have found anything with Motors and Electronic Circuits are prone to fail using the Modified Sine wave units... My fan motors hum loud and get real hot and don't spin up to max when using MSW Power Inverters.

Just some of my comments... I have also heard that high end high dollar MSW Power Inverters are better than the cheaper auto parts store version Power Inverters for what ever that is worth... Read up on what others have to say...
