Big Great Lakes Trip (Campground Recs Please!)

Thinking of spending a month touring all of the Great Lakes next summer. I would love any and all campground recommendations near any of the lakes. We are up for state or private campgrounds. Just looking for great places and daydreaming about the trip. Thanks in advance....

    State parks on the west side of Michigan:

    Van Buren, Ludington, Hoffmaster and Wilderness near Mackinaw Bridge.

    East side:

    Tawas Point, Algonac (just to watch the freighters go by).

    The Upper Peninsula has several state parks but we haven't camped in many. Straights state park in the U.P. is just over the bridge and is close to Mackinac Island if you want to take the ferry over there for the day.
