If you're going to be in that neighborhood you might want to go a little farther west. Owl Creek campground on the Gila River in Arizona looks pretty good. Its on a cliff overlooking the river but there is access to the river at the bridge. Part of the Gila Box Riparian Area. No trees around it. You can boondock on the BLM land around it too. I drove through it a month ago but I didn't have time to look for boondocking sites. The road to the campground is an easy drive and there are some side roads that might give you a place to set up.
