I spoke with Melissa Garcia today. It sounds to me like the BLM wants to lease the property to the state where they will improve the site and institute a fee schedule, maybe up to $23 per night to start with. Melissa seemed to think it would be good to have a more developed site at this location.
The point I made with her was that this area already has many “Developed” sites and this was only “Dispersed Camping” and free site in this greater area.
For those of us that are or soon to be on a fixed income or low income these kinds of sites offer opportunities for those that can not afford the “Developed” sites that dominate the area.
I can only hope this area would (will) be available to myself should I ever be in the area.
I would suggest as many as possible give her a call.
