As for "boondocking", many of us don't consider this boondocking intthe first place--it is, in fact an organized BLM campground with fees. Only change is the fees are going up.
I got the impression that this is currently a no fee BLM area. Is that wrong?
Yes high plains drifter you are correct and greenrvgreen is wrong-- again. Maybe we can't blame him as he is likely referring to an earlier post by bipflier that is also wrong.
I love the statement by greenrvgreen above that it is in FACT an organized BLM campground---- WRONG.
As explained in about half a dozen posts by now, It is a no fee BLM dispersed camping area. No organized anything. An open scrub meadow with a few meandering dirt roads through it and maybe 15 obvious spots to park RVs or trailers and a few dozen more spots for cars and tents. Adjacent to it is a boat ramp with parking for day use and a toilet. If AHRA gets it they will make a set number of sites - likely with picnic tables and fire pits. Their fee structure is $16 per night for camping, plus $7 for daily use of an AHRA site, plus a $10 fee to make a reservation. On crowded weekends now it might have 50 campsites, Under AHRA it will be half that and be a reservation site rather than first come first served so people who do not have an advance reservation will often get turned away. Making a reservation costs $10 and that goes to a private company who manages the reservation system. So someone from Denver would pay $33 for one night for a site with no water or electricity.
If you want to pay $33 per night there is a private campground less than 1/4 mile away with full hookups.
So if that is what you want - you already HAVE it.
