Thanks for your input.
I agree with you that often the State Parks are nicer- Last year we spent several months traveling around Texas and stayed in over a dozen of their state parks- most were very well run. Though I do like the BLM ones along the river near Moab.
In the case of Salida East there are already a bunch of AHRA/state parks all along the river as well as dozens of commercial ones- so it is not like they are meeting any need.
