Bluewater Key Resort
Had high hopes of staying there this coming July. Initially for a few nights, but we decided to try and make it a week. A couple weeks ago, I went on their website and saw the summer rats listed for 2015. Filled out the online reservation form to inquire about reservations. After not hearing anything from them for a week, I went back on their website and filled out the form again. A couple days later, I get an email response with a "tentative" reservation along with a note that says it will be confirmed once summer 2015 rates have been established and will verify site placement as owners occupancy forms are received. No problem on the owners occupancy form thing. But the summer rates for 2015 was listed on their website along with their specials (stay a week get 7th night free). So I emailed them back and asked about the rates that were on the website. They replied that rates are subject to change without notice and that the rates will confirmed by the committee by February. I asked what does by "February" mean? Does it mean the first, the end or what? The reply I get back is to "figure the end to be safe". So I log back on to their rates page and it has been changed. The summer rates are gone. The "add on" fees have been added. $10 more a day for anyone over 12 years old beyond the first 2. $10/day storage for dolly's during in season and $6/day off season...So the waterfront site that said around $100/night before, I can assume it will be nearly $120 during off season for me, my wife and my 13 yr old.
It's a shame because we were really looking forward to it. The price thing doesn't bother me as much as having rates posted, then saying they are subject to change, then taking down what you had and telling me you we won't know for at least another month (2 months into the year). And the "not-customer-friendly" tone in which it was perceived as.
