We have booked our first stay at Topsail for September of 2015. Have site 127. Have a question regarding where to stay on the way there and the way back home. We believe on the way there, the Birmingham, AL area would be a good place to stop. On the way home, somewhere in the Nashville, TN/Bowling Green, KY area makes sense to stop. In the Birmingham area, per RV Park Review, the Dandy RV KOA in Clanton, AL and The Peach Queen Campground in Jemison have decent reviews. The Bowling Green KOA in Bowling Green, KY looks ok. Just looking for input from those of you who have stayed in these areas. We are looking for decent place for an overnight stay-not an extended stay.If any of you have suggestions for Topsail, we would like to hear those as well.Thanks again for your help!

We would choose to stay either in Huntsville, AL area or the southern border of TN.

We stayed at the Birmingham South KOA campground in Pelham. It's a good overnight place to stay. Easy off and on. And it looks like it's would be on your route.

We stayed at the Birmingham South KOA campground in Pelham. It's a good overnight place to stay. Easy off and on. And it looks like it's would be on your route.

This place is nice and just right for overnite. However, it is no longer a KOA. It is now a Good Sam park.

use the bike trail and visit Seaside and have lunch or dinner at one of the food trucks which Seaside is famous for. Go to Navy Pier. It's a fun place and only a couple of miles away from Topsail.

We stayed at the Dandy KOA in Clanton this past Sept. on way to Topsail. Very easy on and off interstate and very clean facilities. Nothing special but nice for an overnite. But make sure they are open cause on our way back sept.27th they were closed. We stayed at the Koa in Nashville on way back. Very expensive and we were not impressed but only campground that had openings. This was our first trip to Topsail and very nice!!!!! Enjoy!!

We were going to stay at the Dandy/KOA in Clanton, AL last week but it had closed. The sign was covered.
Birmingham South in Pelham south of Birmingham is just OK for a one night stop over, although I think it is over priced. Oak Mountain is a little too far off the Interstate for me for a one night stop.

Go eat at the Donut Hole. Great place to eat breakfast.

We go down to Florida often from Kentucky and I rarely ever stop except to refuel and maybe have a meal. When we do stop I usually pick a rest or truck stop and we snooze for awhile then go on. Saves the campground fee every time.
