Boondock Location Search tool

I have found a wonderful source of information on 12000 public campgrounds including USFS, City, County, Regional, COE etc. This site http://www.uscampgrounds.info/ includes an on line presentation on a map. This site http://www.uscampgrounds.info/statemaps.html includes downloadable CSV POI info to use on Streets and Trips. All Free!.
Get detailed information on USFS campgrounds on http://www.forestcamping.com/index.htm

    I prefer this site.

I like it. Even though it says "Campgrounds" it does have, and allows you to add, dispersed camping sites.

    It's a keeper, thanks!

  • Fred and Suzi Dow have done a great job on their site as "EasyGoes" posted. US Forest Campground Site and are in the process of updating it.
And "zman-az" added he likes Ultimate US Public Campground Project
We at Hitchitch.com also love the Ultimate US Public Campground Project. Free to use online or you can download it to your GPS system for offline use for a small fee.
It lists (COE, USFS, BLM, TVA, NPs, BR, F&WS, State, County, Municipal, and Utility)
We at HitchItch are so impressed with this project, and so will you! Over 17,000 POI and have highlighted it on our web site. We have no interest in the site, just love to use it. We have on HitchItch along with RV Travel Journals a whole section on RV Travel Resources.
We connect people sharing their RV lifestyle.
  • Also, I recently discovered that forestcamping.com has just added user reviews. It'll be interesting to see if folks are willing to post -- the format of the reviews is very limited, though. If the reviews start flowing in, this would fill a big gap -- rvparkreviews is great when it comes to RV parks, but the coverage of Forest Service campgrounds is pretty spotty. The forestcamping people have visited hundreds, maybe thousands, of campgrounds, and their info is very valuable.
  • Ain't that a sweet site. It has provided me with a great deal of natural ambiance and relatively low cost daily camping fees over the past 7 or 8 years. It's a gem that I use religiously.
