Boondocking ettiquette

The DW and I have just purchased a new Jayco Eagle 33.5RETS which we pick up Wed. afternoon. Thursday evening we leave for central Oregon for a family reunion and I plan to drive so far and just pull over for the night. The Klamath Falls area I hope. My question regards the use of slide outs, principally the bedroom slide. If we stopped at a truck stop, rest area or parking lot should slides be left in? We're just going to sleep for the night and leave first thing in the morning but I haven't seen the inside of my trailer with the slides in yet so I don't know if it's even necessary to slide it out. Whats acceptable?

  • Best to keep the slides in unless the truckstop has a specific area for Rvs. You can sleep with the slides in, but might not be able to open the dresser drawers with them in. Put your change of clothes for that night on the bed so they will be ready for you.

Have fun and be safe. BTW Klamath Falls is a beautiful area worth an extra look.
  • Plan to leave them in as much as possible. The new smell will get you. Air out as able.
