Boondocking Locations near Kingman AZ

We are looking for a location near Kingman where we could boondock for one night while heading for Casa Grande. We have four rigs all of us around 40 feet plus toad, any suggestions.
Thanks
Michael
  • Not boondocking, but there is a neat little federal campground, Burro Creek Campground, about 5-7 miles south of Wikiup on 93. Water and dump station and a bathroom. We've stayed there several times.
  • You should join Escapees. They have a wonderful boondocking directory, separate subscription.
  • A little quick on the draw there, Tex. There is plenty of BLM land near Kingman. The question is, is it really boondocking that they are looking for.

@ mamestra, are looking for a dirt road leading to a place to stay overnight, or a Walmart, Flying J, RON spot?

  • We boondocked here N35° 12.3011', W114° 5.8104' last year on BLM land about a mile north of I40. Take a look at it on Google Earth. Easy in and out, flat, plenty of room for your rigs. There are several miles of neat hiking trails right there also.

As you are heading south into Kingman via 93 you will pass the turnoff for Hwy 68 (Golden Valley/Laughlin), continue on 93 toward Kingman. the area that keyman44 mentioned is on your right just as you crest Coyote Pass. No problem for your group, plenty of parking on level ground for your group and many hiking and bicycle trails in the area.
  • sorry. poorly worded. I mean that Burro Creek Campground is not boon docking, but.....
I know there are real boon dock places out that way, but he's talking about some pretty big rigs so I wasn't sure he wants dirt roads etc.

No Tex, you originally said that your suggestion was not boondocking. That's OK. But some posters ask about boondocking when they mean something else. That's why I get my hackles up when the questions don't match the intentions.

keyman44 and 4aSong posted about the area I was going to suggest. It's up the the OP, on any thread, to be more specific as to what they are really asking.

ETA: mamestra, if real boondocking is what you meant and are looking for, the area that keyman44 and 4aSong mentioned is worth checking out on Google whatever (satellite or Earth). If not, there is a Walmart Super Center that MAY allow overnight parking. Happy trails! ;)
  • We are looking for something other than pavement camping, we have taken this rigs on some sand roads in Mexico so dirt won't be a problem. Thanks keyman44 and 4aSong I will look at the area. TexasShadow had a look at the park seems very nice but a little further than we wanted to go that day.
    Thanks
