In addition to the National Forests (good suggestion Ken), we have some prime ocean front camping opportunities here in the east. You do have to pay the ferry folks for transportation but after that its pick your spot from forty miles of unspoiled beach on Cape Lookout NS.

Kids and pups had a blast
Cindy and I were more traditional - we're too old to climb ladders for the multiple nature calls during the night.
However, we still had a great view of an Atlantic sunrise from our tent.
There's another trip to Portsmouth Island planned for the first weekend in May. Anyone wanting to join us is welcome.
