I'm very happy with that and count that as a big PLUS for California. Because of this we feel safer in California when going about our daily business than when traveling in certain other states.
I shot competively in the AF, used to hunt a bit, and still own some high power firearms ... but they have no place being carried around by private citizens on the their person or in their vehicles during the course of daily living. I flat-out don't trust amateurs with firearms, especially in the high-tension life-or-death so-called "protection" situations where alcohol-free/drug-free/calm-emotions judgement and wisdom are required on both sides.
Firearms belong out hunting, at the target range, or in storage. The answer to perpetrators carrying firearms is not potential victims carrying firearms.
All IMHO, of course.
