Boondocking safety

We thought we were in big trouble one time when we were camping in a Natl Forest. Middle of the night the RV started rocking. I thought wife was rolling over, but she was actually waking me up. Looked outside by barely lifting on end blind, didn't see anything, ofcourse it was dark but still didn't see anything. RV kept rocking, we thought some teenagers were having fun. But what if somebody wanted us to actually come out of RV to do whatever to us. Finally after whispering to each other of what are we going to do, we decided I would slide on my jeans and sneak out the door. We decided if I yelled, wife would run out of RV to pickup and drive off and get help (18 miles away). We decided that I would run around the back end of RV and surprise whoever. Got up my nerve and ran around back of RV with axe in hand ready for action. Boy I think my heart skipped a beat, what a surprise when I ran into a cow that was using RV as a scratching post was surprised as me. Naturally I was expecting a person and when I couldn't stop running around back end and ran into it, the cow took off more surprised than me.
