I was an OC instructor in a past life, so I'll put my two cents in. Bear spray and human OC are not the same animals. Bear spray my deter an intruder for a minute but will not interrupt the attack. As likewise human spray will not deter a bear attack. They are made of basically the same ingredients but at considerably different strengths.
Also on both they is a warning not to store in a hot vehicle, 110*. I have seen them discharge and it's not a pleasant experience for days to come. Every time you get in the vehicle it will stir the oc and cause it to float in the air.
Storing it in an enclosed container is good until you need it and when you open the box you find it has discharged, then what. First your not going to have the deterrent that you need and second it's going to blow out into your face, then what. Or a child opens the box, then what...
Bear spray will discharge to 30 ft and at that distance it will be ineffective on a human. Human OC is designed to be used at 10ft or less.
