Bear spray may not be the best defense against a two legged varmint.
Bear spray is meant to come out in a fog and the attacking bear will run into the fog, no aiming is necessary. What if the attacker doesn't advance into the fog? If you are standing still you are likely to fog/blind yourself.
Personal self defense spray (pepper spray) comes out in a stream and is aimed. Wasp spray also is a stream and can be directed into the attackers face from a long distance.
I do carry wasp spray, and I also carry a weapon but have never needed either other than against some bees. :B I found the wasp spray worked best for that!
