Geez...why all the fear for boondocking? We've done it for 18 years and have never felt fear or the need to be armed by even bear spray wasp spray - even in Alaska!! Just use common sense..no need to look over your shoulder constantly. That would be a horrible way to live.
Well stated!!
I just hope beyond hope that the next 18 years in the U.S. are no worse than the last 18 years.
I do have my doubts though .... maybe I watch way too much CNN.
I think its safe to say that times are changing and its nothing like it was even 5 years ago, at least not in my area. Home invasions, rapes, murders, strong armed robberies car jacking's, road rage, have tripled and quadrupled in the last 2 years in Oklahoma. And I have family and friends in AZ, Cal, South Dakota, Tennessee, Arkansas, Texas, Florida, South Carolina and they have noticed the same thing. To me using common sense means being prepared. There's a difference between being scared and being aware of what's happening around you. When I have my wife, or loved ones with me I'm am their protector and yes I'm watching what's happening around me. Im not paranoid about it, Just cautions. My brother-in-law's home in Bakersfield was robbed twice last year, Im not going to stop visiting them, but I will take precautions when I go there.
