If you are going all the way to Disneyland, why not pay a few dollars a night and stay about 1 mile from the park. They might even have a shuttle bus to Disneyland.
Summer and it might be in the 90's in So Cal. I would want the A/C unit to run. Otherwise I might stay at a friend's house near Disneyland. Or the local Home Depot, or other places like that. Some neighborhoods can be dangerous in that area. Avoid most of Santa Ana. Orange - only a few miles away, is a much nicer neighborhood, and most of it is safe to walk around at night. I am not saying that all of Santa Ana is where I would not feel safe at night, but I can not say street by street, safe here, not safe around that area.
There is a Home Depot on Garden Grove Blvd just west of Euclid. Only about 1 mile north of the 22 freeway. I would recommend parking there if you just want to spend a few hours. It is really close to the Garden Grove Police Station.
There is also a Costco across the street, with a gas station there. If you get 'kicked out' remember that Home Depot opens at 6 am, just tell them you are looking for a special price on a Jacuzzi hot tub, and want to be there when it opens in a couple of hours. Or drive down Garden Grove Blvd to Beach BLVD (about 4 miles to the west) turn right, go to Chapman, (1.5 miles max) and there is another Home Depot there. In Stanton. Beach BLVD used to be where people walked the streets at night, but the cops set up construction cones all the way up the street, and if anyone stopped their car to talk to someone, they got a ticket for being in the construction zone. It did not take long for them to walk other places. (thus the second choice to park in that area only as a last resort). . . .
Personally I would just budget $50 a night and park at Camperland.
Good luck,
Fred.
thank you for the tips on the areas!
