- old_guyExplorerif you have double 6v batteries you will get more fan operation than 2-12v batteries
- Tom_BarbExplorerWe can do about 3 days on batteries running the furness. by limiting other usages.
- RoyBExplorer IIThen you have places where there are generator run time restrictions in public places... Here on the East Side they seem to be stronger than on the West Side of the US...
The best bet for us was to plan out how many batteries we need to make it through the one day/night run off the batteries then re-charge the batteries the next day for three hours running the generator when we were allowed to run it... Then we would be good for the next day/night off the batteries...
Lots of things going on here...
Roy Ken - corvettekentExplorerWe have never run out of battery power running the furnace but we have used a lot of propane.
- profdant139Explorer IIWe love snow camping, and we run the furnace only during shower time. Otherwise, it's warm clothing and down comforters at night. Perfectly comfortable, with little use of electricity. The temp inside the trailer has gotten down below freezing a couple of times, and it is often in the 30s.
But this is not for everyone. If you want to eat dinner in a shirt and not in a heavy sweater, you will probably need to run the generator from time to time. - 2chiefsRusExplorerWe have an auto gen start that we can program to automatically start the generator when the batteries get to a preset level. Do you have a generator? House batteries will likely not be able to run a furnace all night depending upon the temperature outside and where you set the thermostat. We like to set our thermostat on 40 for the front and 45 for the bedroom area for the overnight and have the auto gen start as a back-up plan.
- lawrosaExplorerit all depends on how many amp hour batterys you have.. One battery and cold out not yoo long... a few hours maybe...
You can kind of calculate it... - ccxnolaExplorerYou better have house batteries full - the fan draws power and when the supply falls below 12v, the propane feed stops and it get's COLD!!
(Please do not ask me how I know this - but DW insisted I get up and start the generator so we could have heat - at 3 AM!!)
